Race Results 23/12/2024 – 29/12/2024

It was a very quiet week of racing with little to report over the Christmas period however a few races did take place including the famous Clevedon Boxing Day Race which many of our local club runners took part in. Read on for race results!

National

The quick Ribble Valley 10k once again produced fast times with James West (Tonbridge AC) winning the men’s race in 28:43 just ahead of Jacob Cann (Newham & Essex Beagles AC) in 28:46 with Omar Ahmed (Birchfield Harriers) third in 29:02. Hannah Nuttall (Charnwood AC) won the women’s race in 31:53 followed home by Jessica Warner-Judd (Blackburn Harriers & AC) in 32:01 and Emily Haggard Kearney (Warriors Pentathlon and Athletic Club) in 33:07.

The Tilli 10k was also won in a sub-30 clocking with Jamie Crowe (Central AC) taking the win in 29:57 as Jamie Burns (Shettleston Harriers) was second in 30:10 and Cameron Milne (Central AC) was third in 30:21. Nancy Scott (Edinburgh AC) was the first woman home in 33:58 with Naomi Lang (Carnethy Hill Racing Club) second in 34:46 and Rosa Donaldson (Bellahouston Harriers) third in 35:18.

The Hereford Couriers Christmas 10k was won by Charlie Jones (Western Tempo) in 31:44 and Chloe Elliott (Sale Harriers Manchester) in 38:57. Matthew Brunnock (Western Tempo) and Donna Morris (Builth & District) were second in 31:58 and 38:42. Henry White (Hereford Couriers) and Annie Birch (Kent AC) were third in 32:46 and 39:17.

Local

The prestigious Clevedon AC Boxing Day 4 Mile road race attracted some of our top local athletes and produced some quick times. Felix McGrath (Bristol & West AC) won the race in 18:58 with Jack Millar (Bristol & West AC) second in 19:10 and Ben Hamblin (North Somerset AC) third in 19:34. Claire Hammett (Thames Hare & Hounds) won the women’s race in 22:15 with Freya Bradley (Westbury Harriers) second in 22:23 and Deborah Bruce (Unattached) third in 22:39.

We are still waiting for race results from various events. The Seven Sins & Immortal Sinners were muddy and hilly trail races with 7 and 14 mile options in Gloucestershire. Plain Crazy in Wiltshire was a 12.5 mile hilly and scenic trail race. The Community Canal Run was a free event that sold out immediately and included 7.5 and 14 mile routes along the River Tone near Taunton. A masters’ event also took place in Cardiff at the Old Father Time 5 Miler where you had to be 35+ to take part in the road race.
