CEP claim this shoe will deliver maximum energy return, improve running economy, increase ankle and foot stability, enhance foot roll through behaviour and reduce joint and muscle loads. How? Through their patented BowTech kinetic technology!
BowTech enhances the natural mechanics of the foot to boost energy return and reduce strain. It is a glass fibre-reinforced Pebax plate (similar to a carbon plate in race shoes) that stores kinetic energy and releases it during push-off and acceleration for propulsive forward momentum. It is also supports the foot’s windlass mechanism (foot’s natural roll-through pattern) to increase stability and overall control. This combination of increased support and power reduces the load on muscles and joints which results in a lighter feeling with less fatigue even over longer distances.
The BowTech follows the same movement as the longitudinal arch of a healthy foot when running/walking. It absorbs energy when the foot lifts off the ground like a spring which provides a noticeable extra kick forward.
The midsole is divided into two pieces. Having two densities delivers the perfect balance of flexibility, energy return and stability.
The back half of the midsole around the heel is made of standard EVA foam to increase stability during landing and initial roll-through. EVA is very durable and provides optimal shock absorption upon landing.
The front half of the midsole around the forefoot is made of CEP’s critical N+Foam which is much softer and responsive to deliver maximum flexibility, comfort and energy return at toe-off.
The midsole is protected by a lightweight durable rubber outsole which features a diamond structure for maximum flexibility as well as superior grip and optimal traction when running.
The upper is made of a nylon monomesh that is lightweight and breathable for efficient ventilation and a supportive fit. It is reinforced with TPU in the footcage to ensure a snug fit around the heels for enhanced midfoot support and optimal transmission of the BowTech effect.
The sockliner features minimal cushion for increased tactility and direct power transmission. The toe cap is reinforced with an abrasion-resistant material to protect the lightweight upper for enhanced longevity. A light and cushioned heel counter helps increase stability and comfort particularly around the heels and Achilles areas.
The lightweight, gusseted and padded tongue is connected along the side to prevent debris from entering the shoe as well as guarantee a secure fit and prevent slippage during movement. Finally a streamlined lacing design ensures quick and effortless adjustment to provide a secure fit with minimal hassle.
