Megan's Pass the Buck Race Review

On Wednesday we ventured to Ashton Court for the Pass the Buck 5k Relay which takes place on the hilly terrain organised by Southville Running Club!

Pass the Buck Relay Race Recap

On Wednesday we were supporting the Pass the Buck Relay Race organised by Southville Running Club. The event is a two-person team relay around the ups, downs, road and trail of the beautiful Ashton Court Estate. Each runner ran a 5km lap to complete a combined total of 10km. Kinisi Run Hub were proud to be back supporting for the second year running!

The race HQ is at Ashton Park School and then the start/finish is a short 10 minute walk away which is where the presentations also take place. The course used sections of the Ashton Court Parkrun course and remains open during the race but there are plenty of Southville marshals on the course to ensure any pedestrians and cyclists are aware of oncoming runners

The conditions this year were quite warm, however as much of the course was shaded it did not feel unbearable. The sun was shining and there was little wind which made for ideal racing conditions. This race takes place in Ashton Court, and for the first half of the race it was uphill, making it a bit challenging.

Jamie ran the first leg in a time of 15:44, which was incredible considering the hills and the uneven terrain which made navigating the ground challenging and tested your concentration. I then set off for my leg of the race, hoping to maintain the lead that Jamie had achieved for our team.

This had not been my best week, as I was fighting a cold which made running a little harder, and the combination of the heat and the hills meant I struggled for the first few kilometres, especially on the hills. However the very kind marshals, and other runners provided me with words of encouragement and it meant that once I had reached the peak of the hill at about 3km, I was able to complete the race as quickly as I could on the downhill section back to the finish.

Overall, Jamie and I came third in the mixed couples, and 6th overall which was a result I was pleased with considering the course. It was great to run with Jamie as he is always so encouraging and supportive and it was fun to compete together and I am sure there will be many future races that we will compete in. Full results here.

Well done to everyone who raced and thank you to Southville Running Club for organising another great Pass the Buck race! Kinisi Run Hub are product to be supporting such a great event and club!
