Weston Prom Run Series 2025/2026 5 Mile Race Review 9/9

The final race of the 2025/2026 Weston Prom Series was on Thursday and Kinisi Run Hub handed out bananas at the finish. Thank you Weston AC for a great series!

The start of the Weston Prom Run Series

On Thursday I raced the ninth and final race in the 2025/2026 Weston Prom Run Series. It was a really nice final race with decent conditions and a strong turnout from all the local clubs. Last month I commented what a difference it makes turning up and racing in daylight and this month had the added bonus of being warm as well. Because it was the final race of the series Kinisi Run Hub did something a bit different than our usual pop-up shop and instead handed out bananas to every finisher at the end of the race!

It was the standard two lap course for this month's race and it was very pleasant conditions being warm and sunny but because it's Weston there was a bit of wind which meant half the race was into a headwind and half had a tailwind. There was a good turnout with most the usual suspects showing up. The race started quick with usual race winner Ben Robinson (Western Tempo) setting off fast. This was my first hard run back since the Bristol Half Marathon ten days ago so I wanted to ease into things as my legs were still a bit heavy. Myself and David Awde (Bristol & West AC) let Ben go and formed a little chase group.

I ran with David for about a mile and then I started to slowly pull away from him and over the next few miles opened up more of a gap. This did mean I ended up running pretty much the whole of the race on my own but I got a good run out which was definitely needed. I felt a bit heavy legged and noticed that I hadn't done much running the last ten days however, this should act as a springboard into upcoming summer racing.

Ben Robinson (Western Tempo) took the win in 25:24 followed by myself in 25:59. Jonah Murray (Clevedon AC) ran a very well paced race to come past David in the later stages and take third in 26:17. The women's race was won by Katy Roy (Bristol & West AC) in 30:40 followed by Hannah Green (Bristol & West AC) in 32:02 and Alice Smith (Weston AC) in 32:04. In total there were 273 finishers. Full results are now online. Well done to all who raced!

The Weston Prom Run Series races start and finish just outside Revo Kitchen on the seafront where registration and the presentations take place. Kinisi Run Hub also have a pop-up shop inside Revo at each fixture. Many runners take advantage of this and get a well deserved post-race drink and meal in the restaurant. The prom remains open during the race but there are plenty of marshals on the course to ensure any pedestrians and cyclists are aware of oncoming runners.

Well done to everyone who raced and thank you to Weston AC for organising another great Weston Prom Run Series! This was the final event in the 2025/2026 series. Kinisi Run Hub are proud to be supporting such a great event and I can’t wait for the next series to start in September!

If you are interested in taking part then keep an eye on the Weston AC event page. There are also 1 mile junior races.
