The Movement Analysis Process

  • Should I make an appointment for a Movement Analysis?

Yes. We ask that you please book an appointment to avoid long wait times. We offer a personalised service and want to allow plenty of time. Book your appointment here.

  • How long does a Movement Analysis appointment take?

    • Appointments are 30 minutes long. This should be enough time to get to know you, understand why and how you move, identify and test suitable shoes, and choose the shoe that will allow you to experience your best run.
    • We are well connected by transport links and there are various places to park nearby including 2 hours free parking around the corner. View our Location & Opening Times here.
  • Should I bring anything to my Movement Analysis appointment?

No, but it is easier to complete the analysis in clothing you can move comfortably and freely in such as sportswear. If you want to bring shoes you are currently running in, liked running in, or experienced problems running in, this will help us in our analysis.

  • How much does a Movement Analysis appointment cost?

The analysis is free with a purchase of shoes. If you donโ€™t buy a pair of shoes we ask that you buy a ยฃ30 voucher which is redeemable against a future purchase (however we are confident you will find a pair of shoes that will allow you to experience your best run!)

  • You didnโ€™t have any shoes that met my requirements. Do I still have to pay for the Movement Analysis appointment?

    • In most cases we will have a selection of suitable shoes for most customers. However, occasionally we may not, for example if you have particularly small or big feet. Most of the shoes we stock range between sizes UK 8-12 for men and UK 5-8 for women but we do stock some models in bigger and smaller sizes as well. If you think shoe size might be an issue for you please call us on 0117 363 5944 or email us at move@kinisirunhub.co.uk before your appointment and we can discuss suitable options.
    • You will not have to pay for the Movement Analysis if we are unable to provide you with suitable shoes that are either the right size (e.g. feet are too small/big) or the right type (e.g. neutral vs. stability). You will have to pay for the Movement Analysis if we are able to provide you with suitable shoes but you do not like the colour, aesthetics, etc.
  • I donโ€™t consider myself a runner. Can I still come for a Movement Analysis?

Yes, of course you can. If you wear shoes then Movement Analysis is for you. Our aim is to find the right shoe that allows you to move freely and with confidence. We can advise you on shoes for other activities besides running, such as walking, wearing to work, or everyday shoes. Send us a message HERE if you are unsure.

  • Why do we use Footscanยฎ pressure plates instead of a treadmill for Movement Analysis?

Walking/running on a treadmill influences the bodyโ€™s natural movement pattern by increasing contact time, modifying pressure distribution, and reducing peak pressure under the heels and toes. You are able to move more naturally running up and down the track which is far more reflective of how you will run outside. Additionally, we can analyse your feet side-by-side on a screen unlike when filming on a treadmill which only allows one foot to be analysed at a time. The Footscanยฎ system provides a more accurate picture of how you are moving.

  • What are the different shoe widths?

    • The shoe widths vary between menโ€™s and womenโ€™s shoes. The majority of our shoes are standard width, however sometimes we stock alternative widths in certain models.
    • The standard menโ€™s width is a D width. A narrow width is B, wide is 2E and extra wide is 4E.
    • The standard womenโ€™s width is a B width. A narrow width is 2A, wide is D and extra wide is 2E.
    • Every brand fits slightly differently with some intentionally having narrower or wider fitting shoes which makes it so important to try a shoe in-store before running in it.
    • If you have know you have a particularly wide or narrow foot you can be creative in finding a shoe that fits you best. For example, if you are a man with a narrow foot, a womenโ€™s standard width (B) is the same as a menโ€™s narrow (B). Alternatively, if you are a women with a wide foot, a menโ€™s standard width (D) is the same as a womenโ€™s wide (D).

Shoe Care

  • How long do running shoes last?

    • It can be difficult to tell when a shoe is worn out. Visually it may look spotless but the midsole may have deteriorated. Similarly it may look very worn but still have a lot of life left in it.
    • One good measure is to track how many miles you have done in the shoes. Many fitness apps have shoe mileage tracking features. Most everyday road running shoes have a lifespan of around 400-500 miles (650-800 kilometres) as a general rule of thumb. But this is dependent on individual factors (e.g. height, weight, movement style), terrain (e.g. road, gravel, trail) and even weather.
    • If you are starting to feel aches and pains when wearing a shoe, this is often a sign that it is time for a new pair. There is nothing worse than getting injured from wearing a worn out shoe as it is an avoidable injury.
  • How do I take care of my shoes?

There are ways to increase the number of miles you can get out of a shoe. If your shoes get wet then let them dry at room temperature and in a dry room. Avoid placing your shoes directly on a heater to prevent the midsole from deteriorating. If you do place them near a heater then stuff them with newspaper to prevent distortion. Never put your shoes in the washing machine and/or dryer. If you do need to clean your shoes, use warm water, mild soap and a scrubbing brush.
