Who are VJ?
Founded in Finland, VJ has built its reputation on creating some of the most durable, grippy, and dependable trail running shoes in the world. Known as the “Best Grip on the Planet,” VJ started out designing shoes for orienteering, where athletes needed absolute trust in their footwear to tackle mud, rock, roots, and steep technical ground.

The VJ MaxX2
The MaxX2 is VJ’s versatile trail shoe — a brilliant all-rounder that balances cushioning, grip, and responsiveness. With a 31 mm / 25 mm stack and a lively perFOAMance™ midsole, the MaxX2 gives you a protective, comfortable ride without feeling sluggish underfoot.
The outsole uses VJ’s Superior Contact rubber with 4 mm lugs, designed to hold firm on mixed terrain — from woodland paths to rocky ridges — while the FitLock system keeps your midfoot secure even when things get technical. Add in a roomy, foot-shaped toebox and a breathable knitted upper, and you’ve got a shoe that’s just as happy on steady long runs as it is when you turn up the pace.

The VJ Ultra 3
If you’re heading into serious distance or technical ultras, the Ultra 3 is designed to keep you moving comfortably hour after hour. Featuring VJ’s nitrogen-infused SuperFOAMance™ midsole, it delivers plush cushioning with a springy, responsive feel that lasts. The rockered midsole shape helps propel you forward, while the built-in rock plate protects your feet from sharp impacts on rocky terrain.
The upper is engineered from breathable mesh with added anti-slip heel material for lockdown, while the FitLock system provides midfoot stability on tricky climbs and descents. Underneath, VJ’s Superior Contact rubber outsole with 4.5 mm lugs ensures dependable traction across mud, wet rock, and everything in between.
With a stack height of 38 mm / 30 mm and a weight around 265 g, the Ultra 3 is light for its level of protection — making it an ideal choice for ultra-runners and anyone taking on long technical days in the hills.
