Event 1 – Gait Analysis
Gait analysis refers to reviewing how you run, the way your leg and foot land on the ground and how well you use your body to propel yourself forward. This workshop will help you understand what gait analysis really tells us and why it is essential for performance, injury prevention and helping choosing the right equipment.
We will outline:
- What our body does in different phases of walking and running
- How we land on our feet and what it tells us about our gait, injury risk, performance and the shoes that can help us
- What does pronation and overpronation really mean and what it means for our running
- The benefits of using video technology and footplates for running analysis
- Information on orthotics – when they are appropriate (or not) and how to use them
There will be practical demonstrations on the night and a chance to see how gait analysis can be applied to you!
Event 2 – Women’s Running Injuries
Female runners are more likely to suffer from particular hip, pelvic, knee and achilles and heel injuries. There are differences in how they respond to injuries and considerations for their rehab too. This workshop will help us understandย the most common women’s running injuries, what to do, what not to do and how to prevent them.
We will outline:
- The most common running injuries women suffer from
- Common causes of injury
- What issues do females especially have to consider and how can they manage them?
- Different considerations and management at different ages and levels of running experience
- The most important exercises and flexibility training for specific injuries
- Myths vs facts – which equipment and taping techniques really makes a difference and what not to do
Event 3 – Perimenopause & Running
Hormones and getting older can impact women’s running and sport performance with some injuries becoming more prevalent. This session will summarise credible information and practical solutions that women need and deserve to know to get the best out of themselves at this key stage in their lives.
We will outline:
- What hormonal changes are happening and how this impacts your bones, muscles, tendons, balance and running performance
- What are the common running related pain and injuries during perimenopause
- How to overcome these common aches and pains
- The essential strengthening exercises for perimenopausal runners. These will be demonstrated live, and you can join in for some of these if you wish.
- The pelvic floor – how running and menopause affect it, why it matters for runners and what you can do to help
- 5 quick wins to manage fatigue, flushes and flexibility
We hope to see you at Kinisi Run Hub for these great events!
