On Friday evening we hosted the first event of the Women’s Running Series which involves 3 workshops centred around different topics at our shop. These events are delivered in collaboration with the Bristol Running Show and Claire Callaghan. The first event was all about Gait Analysis which I hosted with Claire.
Claire is a chartered physiotherapist with 25 years of experience specialising inย Sport, Exerciseย andย Female Health which combined with my years of running industry experience meant we could consider gait analysis from multiple perspectives to consider physiological side as well as the product side.

It was great to welcome a group of women to our shop to teach them a bit more about gait analysis with a larger emphasis on female-specific considerations as well as the more physiological considerations which we don’t always have time to address when doing an analysis in-store.
Gait analysis refers to reviewing how you run, the way your leg and foot land on the ground and how well you use your body to propel yourself forward. During the workshop Claire outlined what gait analysis is and why it is essential for performance and injury prevention from a physio’s perspective. I then gave an overview of how we use gait analysis to help choose the right shoes based on individual factors and the technology we use in the shop.
We followed this with a practical demonstration with a volunteer so that everyone could see how we conduct gait analysis at Kinisi Run Hub but also allowed Claire and me to give some more input and really show what to look for and consider during a gait analysis. We ended with an open Q&A to answer any burning questions.

Overall we were very happy with how the event went especially with it being the first one of this new initiative that we are hoping to make more permanent by hosting and delivering more events in collaboration with the Bristol Running Show.
The Women’s Running Series still has two events coming up hosted by Claire Callaghan which you can still sign up for via the following links. We have a Women’s Running Injuries workshop on Friday the 31st October and a Perimenopause & Running Workshop on Friday the 14th November. In order for us to cover the costs of the events you will need to purchase tickets.
Both events will be held at Kinisi Run Hub. Meet from 6pm for a 6:30pm start and projected 8pm finish. Drinks and refreshments will be provided.ย
We are excited for the next events and hope to see you there!
