On Wednesday evening we hosted the second event in the Kinisi Run Hub Festival of Running 2026 as we gear up towards the Bristol Half Marathon & 10k on the 10th of May. The event was called Run Smart: Fuel Your Race which included a 5k run followed by a race nutrition workshop focused on fuelling strategies for 10k and half marathon distances. If you fuel smart, you run strong!

We kicked things off with a social group run and demoed some great products. On offer were running trainers from Hylo including the Impact and the Axis. There was also the option to take out a Silva hydration vest. And we were joined by Purendure who gave out samples of their energy gels! After we met and everyone was kitted out we set off on a 5k run down the chocolate path and looped back around the harbourside to the shop.

After the run was the workshop part of the event. Hayley who is a cofounder of Purendure started things off with an overview of the brand and their products. Purendure was founded to address a significant gap in the sports nutrition market by producing energy gel alternatives that are natural, fruity and a clean alternative. This small start-up use whole, unprocessed foods to optimise performance and recovery to allow your body to function at its best.

Next up was a talk led by Rachel White who is a seasoned sports nutritionist and registered dietitian based in Bristol. Her extensive experience in both the NHS and price practice is combined with the latest scientific data and personal experience as an endurance athlete to help athlete boost their performance through effective fuelling.

Rachel gave a very thorough overview of everything to think about and how to fuel most effectively in the days leading up to an event. She then outlined race day including what to consider before, during and after an event. She offered practical advice and actionable strategies to fuel to perform when it counts. Rachel focused specifically on fuelling 10k and half marathon distances to provide relevant advice for the upcoming Bristol Half Marathon & 10k.

This session was perfect for those unsure what fuel to take on and when to take it as well as how best to fine-tune your approach towards nutrition before race day.
