On Sunday we supported the Bradley Stoke 10k organised by Sole Sisters North Bristol. This is a staple in the Bristol racing calendar and was the 21st edition as well as a firm part of the Bradley Stoke Community Festival. It is supported by a number of local community groups, residents and churches who make up a large number of the volunteers on the day. Kinisi Run Hub were proud to be supporting and were there with a pop-up shop.
The race HQ is at the Jubilee Centre in Bradley Stoke which provides an ideal setting for the event. There is a big playing field where the start and finish are located and where we set up our gazebo with some other supporters including the Physio Clinic Bristol. There is plenty of parking and number collection and bag drop are located within the Jubilee Centre.
The race started at 9:30 and at 9:10 there was a group warm-up on the playing field led by Terry the Tornado which got everyone in the mood to race to noughties music. After this we all gathered at the start area for a briefing. There were 3 pacers to help runners achieve PBs with the pace times being 49, 55 and 59 minutes. It is a multi-terrain race but chip timed and accurately measured. The roads are open during the run but there are plenty of marshals out on the course ensuring on-coming traffic is aware.
The conditions weren't bad for racing but definitely not June weather as it was very mild with a fairly strong wind. Almost 550 runners took part to make for a great morning of racing.

The race starts on the playing fields at the Jubilee Centre before heading through the track and footpaths of the Three Brooks Nature Reserve and much coveted traffic-free road sections before returning back to the playing fields at the Jubilee centre. The start and finish loop around the playing fields which makes for good spectating and excitement at the beginning and end of the race.
The race started quickly as we wound our way around the playing fields but we soon settled into a rhythm after we left the centre. I found myself at the front with a couple of runners on my tail but as we got onto the trails I slowly started to pull away. Once we were into the Three Brooks nature reserve I opened up a gap and it turned into a solo time trial. It's not the quickest course and was a fairly windy morning so I was looking to put in a solid shift and get a hard run out which is exactly what I did. The course is fairly flat but is quite twisty turny and a fair chunk of it is on trials so not necessarily a race for a PB. Despite this I was very happy with my run and got the job done.
I managed to take the win in 32:25 followed by Tomek Czerepinski (Unattached) in 34:58 and Michael Lee (Unattached) in 35:37. The women's race was won by Kelly Dicks (Great Western Runners) in 40:28 with Emily Pitcher (Avon Tempo) second in 42:06 and Sarah Dix (Unattached) third in 44:55. In total there were 542 finishers. Well done to everyone who raced and thank you Sole Sisters for hosting a great event!
