On Wednesday we were supporting the Bitton 5k organised by Bitton Road Runners. This was the last race of four in their summer series. These races provide an opportunity for people to experience a fast and friendly race throughout the summer, which is perfect for chasing PBs or enjoying a competitive run in a welcoming club atmosphere.
The race HQ is at the Bitton Railway Station and it was a nice evening for it with mild conditions and the course is fairly sheltered because of the covering from the trees which was fortunate as was very windy on the day itself windy recently.
There was a solid turnout for the race with over 80 athletes coming from various local clubs showing up to race. Looking around at the start there were some familiar faces which made the race exciting !
I made sure to get a short warm-up in, to make sure I was ready for the race. We headed over to the cycle path and everyone lines up before we are set off and the stop watches are started. Nobody went off too quickly which was good as I wanted to make sure I ran sensibly so that I could maintain the pace for the race. I felt comfortable and kept the pace going.
The race is an out-and-back so at 2.5km there was a marshal who I ran around and headed back. I knew that I was on track to run a personal best, and I was able to keep my pace going to the finish.
Well done to everyone who raced and thank you to Bitton Road Runners for organising another great Bitton 5k Summer Series race! I'm looking forward to the next series of races in 2027!
